Never tell your wife / fiancee / girlfriend about eBay ….. Its utopia for them – shopping while sat on your arse…. We’ve just bid on a couple of things for the wedding and I think she’d have had a heart attack with the suspense of not knowing whether someone would sneak in with another bid at the last second or not.
Seriously though, I really don’t know how people price up goods on ebay – unless they really are nicked ! I’ve recently bought a car charger and phone holder for my phone. £7.48 for both of them – £2.49 and £4.99, respectively (on a buy it now rather than auction) and that includes postage and packing – which I guess is about £2.50 and I guess it takes the person a good few minutes to print labels, prepare paper the pack etc, which if they want to earn £8 per hour might be nearly £2 of their time, which leaves about £3 for the goods !! I know the plusses and minuses mean it might be £4.50 – maybe Ive overestimated the postage and time – but compare that to a market stall in Redditch where I bought a (faulty) car charger for £6.50, and I guess a gooseneck phone holder would probably be £9.99. I got a belt case for my phone from the same ebay place a few weeks ago for about £3.50 – again including postage.
Anyway, if you want a multicoloured response, tell your wife / fiancee / girlfriend about ebay and see their eyes light up, then watch the credit card bill turn red 🙂
[ I feel it prudent to state here that we only spent £25 just, including postage and probably saved a good £70 odd quid off buying stuff elsewhere, so the above is in jest – honest, ouch !!!]
