Dad has had broadband issues for a while. Several times he has gone to use his PC and its taken a while to get internet access but Ive always assumed it was Sky seeing as he would always get internet access eventually but this last week or so has been an issue
After spending a while over there recently I eventually traced the problem down to an extension line going off to the lounge – as soon as that was disconnected from the master socket, everything worked perfectly
I’m not a major phone buff but I assume that something going down that line is producing some interference on the line and causing the issue because the phone line itself works fine with a telephone on the end of it (and, rather ironically a sky digibox !)
Ive temporarily resolved the problem by rejigging the phones but Ive got to get a working line back in the lounge
Option one is to replace the extension box on the end, and option 2 is to actually wire the extension in through the front of the master socket rather than internally – this shouldnt really matter as the line was obviously working as a phone line so all the wires were obviously connected fine but at least it removes it from the back end connections and makes it easier to connect / disconnect while testing
Why does broadband have to be so damned picky about lines. All the phones work but Broadband has an issue with this one extension point. ARGH !
